5 Days Rwanda Primate Safari
The 5 days Rwanda Primates safari is the wonderful safari experience that combines Rwanda’s top safari attractions. During this safari you get to see all the primates, the famous mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park and then go to the rain forest (home of chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park).

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
You will be picked up by a company representative from your hotel or Kigali International Airport early in the morning and be briefed about the safari. You will have a city tour where you will visit Kimironko Market, the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, and the Inema Art Gallery, among many others and then be transferred to the northern mountains the drive takes about 3-4 hours with lunch en route.
The journey takes you through winding roads with the beautiful views of Rwanda’s green hills. Upon arrival, check in and relax for a dinner and overnight stay at you booked lodge’

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
After breakfast, meet your safari guide, and they will transfer you to the park headquarters for the briefing about gorilla trekking. This is where you will hike into the misty forest to find a family of the wild mountain gorillas.

The trek takes you about 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. When the gorillas are located, you spend one hour watching them doing their daily activities; later, after one hour, get back to the starting point and transfer to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village to learn about the local traditions. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge above
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Nyungwe National Park.
Have a morning breakfast, and head back into the park for the shorter hike to see the rare Golden Monkeys. They are very playful and then live up in the bamboo trees; once found, spend one hour in their presence. After the hike, drive to Nyungwe National Park with an en-route lunch. The journey takes 4-5 hours. Upon arrival in the park, you will be transferred to your booked lodge

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Have a morning breakfast and  be driven to Cyamudongo Forest for a breathtaking chimpanzee trekking safari that starts with a briefing to learn the dos and don’ts while trekking chimpanzees in their natural habitats in the forest.
During chimpanzee trekking, keep your eyes alert for an opportunity to spot other wildlife species, including more primates, since Nyungwe Forest National Park is not only a home to chimpanzees but also other primates that make up 13 species of primates in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Spot other wildlife, including mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, etc. Once you get closer to the chimpanzees, spend a maximum duration of 1 hour with chimpanzees, take pictures, and then return to your lodge for lunch.
 After lunch go for Canopy; spend 1 and a half hours to 2 hours on a canopy walk within Nyungwe forest. A canopy walk is such an adventurous activity that allows travelers to walk on a 50 m high canopy within the forest while sighting a lot of fauna and flora species, including primates, mammals, birds, butterflies, amphibians, and plants, among others. After the canopy walk, drive back to the lodge for dinner & overnight stay above.

Day 5: Return to Kigali for departures
On this last day, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali, Rwanda, with an enroute lunch. You will be dropped off at any advised place or Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
