3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari
3 days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari offers an unforgettable opportunity to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in one of the Africa’s most beautiful and less crowded wildlife destinations. Mgahinga is located in southwestern Uganda, the park is Uganda’s smallest national park, but is one of the country’s greatest natural treasures.
The park forms part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area that extends across Uganda, Rwanda and then Democratic Republic of Congo and is a home to the famous Nyakagezi Gorilla Family, that is well known for its remarkable stability and then frequent sightings within the park.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport, where you will meet your professional driver guide for a briefing before departing for southwestern Uganda. The journey takes about 8 to 10 hours by road and it offers beautiful views of Uganda’s rolling hills, lush green countryside, terraced farmlands and among others.
Along the way, you will make a stopover at the equator for the memorable photographs and refreshments before continuing your journey through the stunning landscapes of Western Uganda. Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
After breakfast, meet your safari guide and transfer to the park headquarters for a detailed gorilla trekking briefing conducted by the experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. During the briefing the visitors are informed about gorilla trekking regulations, safety guidelines and many others.
After being assigned to a gorilla family, begin your trek through the bamboo forest and then mountain slopes of the park, the duration of the trek varies depending on the location of the gorilla family and may take about two to six hours.

When you find the gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend one observing these giant gentles as they feed, groom one another, play, and interact with their family groups. And later trek to the starting point to where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate before transferring back to your lodge.
In the afternoon, you may optional enjoy Batwa cultural experience, these are the original forest inhabitants of the Virunga region, and their cultural trail offers fascinating insights into their traditional hunting methods, medicinal plant knowledge, music, dances and others. Day 3: Transfer to Kampala or Entebbe—Departure.
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and start on your journey to Kampala or Entebbe while passing through Uganda’s countryside and vibrant local communities. Along the way you will have en-route lunch and then refreshments.
Proceed with your journey until you arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening and your safari guide will transfer you to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
