5 Days Rwanda Wildlife Safari
5 days Rwanda Wildlife safari is the wonderful safari experience that combines Rwanda’s top safari attractions. During this safari you get to see the famous mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park and then the diverse wildlife of Akagera National Park.
The trip gives you a perfect mix of the thick forests and then open savannah plains that offer you unforgettable safari memories.
Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Akagera National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your driver will meet you in Kigali, welcome you for the safari, and drive you about 2.5 hours east of Akagera National Park. Upon arrival you enjoy the scenic afternoon game drive to see zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and many others. Later dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise in Akagera National Park.
After breakfast, meet your safari guide and then go for the morning game drive to spot the big five mammals like lions, buffaloes, rhinos, elephants and leopards along other mammals without forgetting bird species. Later go for lunch.
After lunch, you will enjoy the boat ride on Lake Ihema to see the big hippos and crocodiles resting in the water, among many others. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and then transfer to the northern mountains the drive takes about 4.5 hours. The journey takes you through winding roads with the beautiful views of the Rwanda’s green hills. Upon arrival, check in and relax for tomorrow’s activities. Later dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
After breakfast, meet your safari guide and transfer you to the park headquarters for the briefing about gorilla trekking this is where you will hike into the misty forest to find a family of the wild mountain gorillas.
The trek takes you about 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. When the gorillas are located you spend one hour watching them doing their daily activities, later after one hour get back to the starting point and transfer to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village to learn about the local traditions. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Golden monkey trekking and departure.
After breakfast, head back into the park for the shorter hike to see the rare golden monkeys. They are very playful and then live up in the bamboo trees, once found spend one hour in their presence. After the hike, drive back to Kigali enjoy your en-route lunch and after lunch drive back to Kigali to catch your flight home that will bring your safari come to the end.
